ClearlySo Introduces New Initiative: Social Speed Dating

Speed dating is not just for single people looking for love anymore, it is now becoming a useful business tool to ‘set up’ investors with entrepreneurs and firms looking for capital. So it made perfect sense for ClearlySo to take the next step and be the first company to mingle socially minded investors with social entrepreneurs. The event was held in the UK and involved 15 entrepreneurs proposing their ideas to various investors. The first date was June 17th and ClearlySo plans to share the love by hosting more speed dating events starting in September. ClearlySo CEO Rodney Schwartz decided on the event for four reasons:

• To assist the social businesses and social enterprises in finding capital investors.

• It is good practice for the businesses to get in the habit of condensing their story.

• To specialize a speed dating event specifically for socially minded investors and social entrepreneurs.

• To provide important feedback to the entrepreneurs and improve their confidence.

We first profiled ClearlySo back in April when they were first launching their website.  Since then, ClearlySo has made great strides towards building an online marketplace for social businesses, which we commend here at SocialEarth.

    Love this! At first glance, I was hoping it was a speed dating event for socially-minded people to find significant others rather than investors/causes. No such luck! Hmmm….maybe a future venture, ClearlySo? I can only hope.
