Environmental Finance To Host Impact Investing 2011 Conference

Money shouldn’t make you feel dirty anymore, especially when there are so many new ways to make a clean, positive impact on our Earth. Venture capital, social enterprise, socially responsible investment, and impact investing are just a few examples of how you can make your money work for you – and the rest of the world – at the same time….

Of course, this kind of quintessential “idealist package” is always hard to believe when you first hear of it, so that’s why Environmental Finance magazine has organized their 2011 Impact Investing Conference in London on Friday, September 30th. They want to introduce you to people who have been involved in impact investing for years – people like ClearySo’s CEO Rodney Schwartz and Bridge Ventures Executive Director, Michele Giddens. They know where to penetrate the market, how to manage risks, and more importantly, they are living proof that this new brand of “philanthropy meets private equity” investing is alive, well, and growing fast.

But don’t get it from me, get it from them. There is still time to sign up for the one day Impact Investing 2011 Conference on the Environmental Finance website. If SOCAP11 left you feeling hungry for more, London has your number.

Conference participants will be engaged in the analysis and debate of the most effective ways for investors to generate environmental, social, and financial returns – the famous triple bottom line – and will gain access to a new network of investors, asset & wealth managers, philanthropic foundations, microfinance specialists, social entrepreneurs, and more. Topics include Microfinance, Health, Education, Environment, Clean Energy, Social Housing, and two case studies in India and Africa.

I am personally preparing for the conference with a lot of positive-thinking. It is easy to believe that the investment world has gone stagnant, if not in reverse, in light of the economic lock-down we are experiencing in the States and across Europe. However, this fear of the traditional market and big, bad bankers means there has never been a better time to educate ourselves about alternative investment options. Are there new places where our money can be safe and holistically productive? Social capital is a real space and on September 30th, Environmental Finance’s Impact Investing 2011 is giving you the map on how to get there…and stay.
