The following post is from the beautifully articulated TBD email by All Day Buffet.
It’s a fact: This planet has problems. Zillions of them. Everywhere. And though our media-drenched world can certainly bring light to the ones that don’t make the front pages of the Times, it can be hard to cut through the inundation in order to answer the big questions: What’s really going on, and how can we help?
Causecast’s Levi Felix and Brooke Dean left California to travel the globe, on a mission to document how the world’s activists, volunteers, and citizens are making a difference. This Is The World We Live In chronicles their journey, bearing witness to the daily struggles and hopes of everyday people across the planet. Their blogs, photographs, and video dispatches provide a dynamic, ground-level perspective on the world we live in, through the eyes of those they meet along the way… including ambitious elementary school teachers in Krabi, an organizer on Egypt’s activist wanted-list, and Aung San Suu Kyi’s colleagues in the trenches of the 2010 Burmese democracy movement.
However, as of last week, Brooke and Levi have realized that they’re only just beginning to scratch the surface. In order to bring attention to the world’s most current and pressing issues (including those often overlooked), they’re inviting you to contribute to the portrait of what matters now: “Together, we can provide a wider perspective for those who aren’t in the field, while inspiring those who might need that extra nudge to get out from behind their desks.”
