On Monday, WiserEarth, the company which hosted the OpenWiser Campaign, announced they successfully raised over $10,000 to finish their API; essentially opening their database of 110,000 socially conscious organizations to the public. OpenWiser was an online crowd-sourced fundraising event held April 22nd through June 1st and successfully raised $10,319 from 102 donors.

According to their website, the API is almost complete:

“Much of the work on the WiserEarth API is already done. In fact, a beta version of the API is now available for WiserEarth Organization records. If you would like to get your hands dirty now, you can join the WiserEarth API Developers Group and help with the beta testing and documentation of the API.”

WiserEarth was launched by Paul Hawken’s Natural Capital Institute (NCI) in 2007. We here at SocialEarth believe that knowledge is the first step to change, and applaud WiserEarth for their efforts.
