SEVEN is a leader in the field of Enterprise Solutions to Poverty. We ask the question, “How do we support those who are self-determined, action-oriented, and effective?” We find and invest in the innovations of pioneering thought leaders and entrepreneurs inside the world’s poorest nations; we support contrarian research, films, books and competitions that spotlight new role models and diffuse their best ideas. We sponsor a variety of different competitions geared towards students, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and role models. We currently have four active competitions underway: our third annual request for proposals, an essay competition, a photography competition, and a business plan competition focused on creating prosperity in the Philippines. Our competitions each have a unique theme related to Enterprise Solutions to Poverty, and a unique set of prizes. Third Annual Open Enterprise Solutions to Poverty Request for Proposals
We are pleased to announce our third annual open enterprise solutions to poverty request for proposals. The competition will award two research grants of up to $100,000 each for the strongest proposals. The deadline for submitting an initial letter of interest is October 15, 2010.
2010 – 2011 SEVEN-CIFA Faith and Development Essay Competition
SEVEN is sponsoring the 2010-11 Essay Competition in partnership with the Center for Interfaith Action on Global Poverty (CIFA). We are seeking essays on enterprise solutions to poverty from around the globe that are faith-based, faith-inspired, or interfaith efforts. The competition will award two prizes of US $5,000. The submission deadline is October 15, 2010 at midnight Eastern Standard Time.
“I am an Entrepreneur” Photography Competition
The ‘I Am an Entrepreneur’ photography competition recognizes the outstanding use of photography to tell compelling stories of role model entrepreneurs from around the world. Anyone is welcome to participate in this competition. The competition will award a monthly finalist prize of $100, over a period of one year. The grand prize winner (selected from among the 12 finalist photographs) will receive $1,000 at the end of the year. This competition runs through December 2010.
Hapinoy Fisherman ‘Breakthrough Innovation Grant’ (BIG)
A business plan competition sponsored by SEVEN, the Fisherman Foundation and MicroVentures Inc.’s Hapinoy Program in the Philippines. This competition is open to all who aspire to create prosperity in the Philippines through new and viable business ideas that can be offered through the Hapinoy sari-sari store network. Proposals must be innovative, resourceful, scalable, and fit the particular needs of the Philippines. The competition will award four grants in Philippine Pesos: 1st Prize: PhP 100,000, 2nd Prize: PhP 75,000, 3rd Prize: PhP 50,000, Special Prize: PhP 25,000.
