If you’ve kept up on our somewhat daily tips to becoming more socially conscious, then you’re probably going to enjoy this story about Seventh Generation.

The Vermont based company has been uniquely positioned within the green space long before ‘green’ was a part of our vocabulary. For over 20 years, Seventh Generation has been committed to becoming the world’s most trusted brand of environmentally responsible products for your home.

As one of our country’s first self declared socially responsible companies, Seventh Generation operates with a radically different mindset; one that is focused on offering consumers the opportunity to express their passions and ideals to causes greater than themselves along every point of the supply chain. In fact, the company name itself carries a special meaning. “Seventh Generation” is derived from the Great Law of the Iroquois which states

“In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”

Thus, in relation to their operations, the company maintains, “Every time you use a Seventh Generation product, you are making a difference by saving natural resources, reducing pollution, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.”

Wow, what a thought and what an incredible way of thinking. Products offered by Seventh Generation include household bleach, paper towels, bathroom tissue, diapers and the list goes on. While the price points for Seventh Generation products will be a bit higher than your normal general merchandiser, it may be well worth it if you believe in the mission of the company.
