The much anticipated Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, led by Sonal Shah, was officially launched yesterday at the White House, despite the fact that the office has already been operating for several months.
The Obama Administration created the office to identify innovative non-profits and social businesses that have proven records creating solutions for social ills. The office includes the Social Innovation Fund, a $50 million fund for the first year, proposed by the President to scale these ventures.
You can listen to the coverage from NPR here.
The office is in its infancy stages and is seeking ideas from thought leaders in the industry on how to use the capital in the most impactful manor. Do you have any ideas on how the capital should be allocated?
