As we progress with SocialEarth, we will post weekly videos focused on social entrepreneurship under the title, Think Deeper.
A key part of our Think Deeper posts is to stimulate discussion, elevate our thinking and question all ideas presented. Therefore, we ask you to share your opinion by commenting on each video we post. Let your voice be heard by telling us and each other what you think.
Today, we bring you a video from Stanford’s Entrepreneurship Corner, one of our favorite video hang out spots. It’s an intriguing video challenging us to think beyond a socially responsible business.
Mr. William McDonough utilizes a simple triangle to help us distinguish between capitalism, socialism and ecologism. He asserts that any ‘ism’ (socialism, capitalism etc.) is detrimental to general societal well being.
Interesting take and certainly one that merits discussion. What do you think? As a society, where do we fall on that triangle? We can all agree that a healthy balance of capitalism and socialism is imperative for a prosperous and sustainable future but how do we consistently move in that direction?
