Summer is almost here.
That means soon you’ll be able to participate in all the summer activities you love; including outdoor barbeques, sun bathing, leaving work early on Fridays, and large-scale charity campaigns. What? Chairty campaings? Yep, that’s right. Take all that you love about summer and add one more aspect this year- leveraging social media for an online charity campaign.

It’s called The Summer of Social Good, and is ‘the first large scale online charitable campaign to raise funds strictly online through the power of Social Media and the Internet.’ The campaign is organized by Mashable and raises money for The Human Society, World Wildlife Fund, LIVESTRONG and Oxfam America.
The campaign runs June 1st through August 28th and seeks to leverage ‘social influence’ via social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and other blogs. 100% of the funds will be split equally between the four charities.
The campaign is sponsored by Zappos.com and MailChimp. Become a fan of the campaign on the Facebook page and follow the official Twitter account. To follow others in the campaign, or to tweet about your work, use the #socialgood hashtag on Twitter.
Adam Hirsch from Mashable told us that there would be new challenges announced every Monday. The challenge this week is raising $100,000 in one week. Stayed tuned for updates. Cheers to a summer of social good!
